Kevin Calbert is a lifelong painter interested in using landscape and representation to convey mood and abstract ideas. A Fine Arts/Graphic Design graduate of Louisiana State University, his painting education consists of equal parts classical study and creative experimentation, with experience spanning more than thirty years as a working artist in a variety of media. His major painting influences include the French Impressionists and early 20th century Surrealist, Cubist, Fauvist, and Realist painters. Popular culture, photography, books and film have also influenced his work. His most recent paintings focus on subjects connected to the environment and culture of the Gulf coast and Caribbean.
